The South Australian Budget 2021-22

The South Australian Government released its budget last week. And from the reading of it, our State is recovering well economically from the Covid-19 pandemic with good jobs growth and the highest ever number of South Australians now in work. That's a great confidence builder.

As with all budgets, there's a lot to digest. But to keep it short and sweet, as you would expect, there's a strong continued focus on jobs and economic growth, providing more for skills and education, investing in the future generations and keeping people well.

  • an extra $444 million has been committed to the Jobs and Economic Growth Fund taking the total capacity of the fund to $200million over the next 4 years.

  • Additional Land Tax Relief of $10.7 million.

  • Small Business Capability Program $2.6 million over 4 years.

  • Payroll tax exemption for apprentices and trainees has been extended for another 12 months.

  • $2 billion investment in health.

  • $163.5 million mental health package.

  • $8.8 billion on roads and transport.

  • $50.1 million in early childhood development health checks.

  • $665 million for education and schools.
